This Schwinn folding bicycle is compact and easy to ride. The price is affordable and probably one of the reasons this bike appeals to so many.
However if though it is not the highest in quality it still provides a decent ride and the overall package is quite good for the price.
This bike suits both men and women and is very easy to get on and off. Although a little heavier than I would like it to be, it can still be brought anywhere you want to go by bus, car, RV, boat or airplane.

More In-Depth Info
I like the low profile look of the Schwinn 20-Inch Loop folding bike, I like the affordable price and I like all the good reviews.
I knew I had to try it and test it out for myself. I have spent a bit of time on this bike testing it out and think I got a good feel for all the pros and cons.
For the low price range of this Schwinn bike you can’t expect it to excel in every area.
It is a cheaper bike and the question I had was is it worth buying? The answer is yes if:
- You plan to use it for shorter rides – not long distance touring or commuting.
- You want a low profile frame that is easy to get on and off of.
- You aren’t expecting the best of the best in folding bikes.
- You want a bike that is compact and easy to take anywhere.
- You want a bike that is essentially comfortable to ride and versatile with 7-speeds.
After using several different folding bikes I can say that the Schwinn 20-inch Loop is on the cheaper side in overall look and feel.
Some of the components are plastic and aren’t going to hold up as well as a better quality bike.
However, that being said I really enjoyed riding it and there isn’t too much to complain about if you are using this bike for recreational fun.
It is easy to ride, compact to take anywhere, quick to set-up and fold down and although it is made a little cheaper, the overall performance is not bad.
Schwinn Loop Important Features
This bike has a lot of nice features included in the package.
Rear Carrier – The integrated rear carrier is really handy for carrying groceries or any gear you need to bring with you.
I really like this feature. Even if you don’t always use it, it is really nice to have the option.
Low Frame – The low stand over frame is even lower than most other folding bicycles.
The low frame makes it really easy to get on and off no matter what your age or capabilities.
The low frame also helps this bike fold up easily and store in a small space.
Front and Rear Fenders – The full wrap front and rear fenders are a nice touch and allow you to ride in any weather.
Even in nice weather these fenders will help to keep dirt and debris off your clothes.
Only problem I had with these is that they are made of plastic so I do wonder about their durability.
Alloy Linear Brakes – I found the Sure stopping alloy linear brakes to work well. No issues here.
7-Speed Drivetrain – The 7 speeds are easy to shift and give you more versatility for riding up and down hills and on different terrain.
Quite a few of the ‘cheaper’ folding bikes in a similar price range only have one gear.
The 7 gears that this bike offers is really nice to have and I think makes it a lot more functional for every day use.
20” Alloy Star Pattern Wheels – Wheels are compact bikes like this one tend to be smaller than a ‘normal’ bike.
Even though these 20” wheels are better suited for smooth road cycling, I have to say that I don’t find them too bad on gravel either.
I spent some time cycling the Schwinn Loop on different types of paths and it handled quite well.
Carry Bag – Not all folding bikes come with a carry bag but this one luckily does.
Schwinn says this bag is made of heavy gage nylon and it easily fits the bike when folded up.
I find the bag fairly basic and cheap in look and feel but again for this price you can’t complain.
Just the fact that it includes a bag is great.
Warranty – Schwinn’s limited lifetime warranty for as long ad you own the bike is actually quite good.
There is always fine print to read in these warranties but overall it sounds decent and definitely gives a little piece of mind.
Schwinn Loop Folding Bike Setup
This bike comes pretty much all assembled. All you have to do is cut off some twist ties, take off the packaging, unfold and screw on one pedal (the other is already attached).
It only took a few minutes to figure out this whole setup process and you don’t need any tools, which is nice.
You will probably need to adjust the seat height and possibly the handlebars.
Some people have said that they needed to take this bike into a bike shop to get the brakes and gears adjusted but mine was good to go right out of the box.
It is not a bad idea to get it checked out all the same to make sure it is in proper working order and adjusted possibly for your height.
Check the tire pressure before you head out for the first time.
Schwinn 7-Speed Loop Performance
This doesn’t feel like a thousand dollar bike but overall I think the performance is just fine.
Once unfolded it has a rigid frame. You sit up fairly straight, which I think makes for a comfortable ride.
It is smooth on the road and handles gravel paths quite well. I had no issues with steering and the brakes are very responsive.
I wouldn’t want to rid this bike really long distance but for cruising around having fun, I thought it rode very nicely considering the low price tag.
The 20” tires ride surprisingly smoothly and the gears are super easy to switch.
I really had a lot of fun with this bike and although it may not be my bike of choice for many I think it will be awesome.
20-Inch Loop Comfort
You can adjust the seat on this bicycle as well as the handlebars to get a good fit.
The pedals are on the smaller side but they didn’t bother me at all.
The seat as with most seats on these folding bikes was not that comfortable. Believe it or not it is better than some but still a little on the hard side.
I would highly recommend upgrading to a cushier seat.
I like the design of this bike with the low stand over frame. It is easy to get on and off no matter what age you are.
You sit up with a fairly straight back making for an overall comfortable ride.
It is worth noting that I found this bike more comfortable than my boyfriend.
He agreed that it is a good bike for the price but he wasn’t a huge fan of the comfort level of riding it, although he did take it out quite a few times.
I am 5’8” tall and he is 5’11” and overall just bigger than I am.
The Negatives
The negatives are about what you would expect from a cheaper bike.
Some of the components are plastic and not as durable as one would like.
I was a little surprised that Schwinn included plastic components but then again this bike is only in the $300 range and I didn’t expect it to be super high quality.
The seat is truly not that comfy, although my butt tends to get sore fast on bikes so others may find it more tolerable.
This is an easy fix however as you can inexpensively purchase a seat with more padding.
After using several other higher end folding bikes I have to say that this one felt a little on the heavy side to me.
That being said it is still easy to lift and carry and transport anywhere.
I do find that I have to pedal more to go the same pace as a ‘normal’ bike.
However I find that is often the case with folding bikes as their wheels are typically smaller.

Final Thoughts
For the price I do like this bike a lot. I would say don’t expect it to be perfect but it is a nice ride and very compact.
Personally I would prefer to spend another couple hundred to get better components and lighter package.
However if you want to keep your budget down, this is a good choice.
Plus Schwinn offers a limited lifetime warranty on the frame and most parts. Hey you can’t beat that!
